Pick a topic from the list below (or talk to Mrs. Wellborn about a different topic to research:
DAY ONE
You will be making a PSA on animals at risk of extinction. Working in groups of two or three, pick one of the following animals to research and learn about: red pandas, African elephants, amur leopards, orangatans, aye-ayes, vaquitas, black rhinos, hawksbill turtles.
2. After you have selected your topic, use the CPS databases or reliable websites to find answers to the following questions (make sure you divide up the questions to research):
Where does this animal live (country and habitat)?
How many of these are still in existence?
What does this animal eat?
What are the threats to this creature's existence? (For example, is loss of habitat due to human encroachment a cause of its declining numbers? Does pollution hurt this creature? Is the creature being hunted to extinction?)
Write down one interesting fact about this animal.
Write your answers on a Google Doc and share it with Ms. Wellborn
DAY TWO
3.When you have all your information, write a script to use with pictures. Be sure to assign roles to each person in your group and decide who will say which lines. Important---you may do some recording over pictures but at some point you must have a student (or all of the group) in front of the camera.
DAY THREE
Locate and download at least five photographs or videos to use in the iMovie. Start working on making an iMovie.
Be sure to include credits for the pictures you have used, if they are available.
DAY FOUR Use this day to refine your movies and make final edits.
